What would your response be if someone asked you to write a blog about your personal, or own sense, of style?
If you are anything like me, it was sheer panic and I swear all the colour drained from my face! In my mind I don’t have a style, I just wear clothes that make me feel comfortable in my skin, making me feel relaxed and suit my lifestyle!
I live in skinny jeans, jumpers & shirts and absolutely love my stacking bracelets! Is that a style? Is that a fashion trend? Does this give me any credence to advise others how they should dress or accessorise? Be able to give them style inspiration?
I asked a few close friends their thoughts about what they think my style is, and here are just a few:
“She always looks like she is not trying”
“A stylish girl about town”
“No-one rocks a skinny jean, cool jacket and scarf like you do!”
Now, this is quite inspiring and not at all what I expected, so I thought I would dig a little deeper into what my style is all about and see if I really do have any inspirational style icons without even realising it!
And I do!!
This lady has a ‘Rock Chick/Bohemian’ style that is effortless, relaxed, lived-in and incorporates funky accessories and usually lots of denim and suede.
The “Bohemian” style type is the most casual and carefree of the style types and lovers of this type never shy away from a bold colour or an animal print – especially in the form of a blouse or a flowing dress.
If the “Bohemian” style is your thing, as it is mine, you will love the bracelet stacking trend. The combinations and possibilities are endless. You can throw on some casual bracelets for daytime and then make a fancier evening look cool and up to date by stacking some dressier bangles. It leaves everything up to your own style and how much of a statement you want to make.

These inspiring women are known for wearing monochromatic ensembles and pieces with sleek clean lines – exuding power and an innate sense of “Chic” style.
The “Chic” style type often choose clothing in black, grey’s, white’s and neutrals, saving colour for a bold statement accessory such as an alligator skin purse or a striking red scarf.
In the wardrobe of a “Chic/Classic” style icons, you’ll find sleek modern shapes and on-trend accessories. A little black dress is always a staple.
Accessories are where these ladies become adventurous, favouring sharp coats and stylish, minimalist jewellery such as simple pendants and cuffs and I sure have plenty of these in my jewellery box!
When doing my “research”, (which was obviously incredibly painful!) I also considered my love of the scarf! Jewellery provides wonderful options for wearing accessories and finishing an outfit, but the beauty of a scarf is that it can take centre stage and eliminate the need for extra accessories. Not sure which necklace or earrings to wear, choose neither and wear a beautifully simple scarf instead.
A scarf is also multi-functional! In the summer, wandering around in the evening or early in the morning, I always find myself needing just a little extra warmth, but not necessarily a jacket and a scarf or even pashmina is the perfect solution.
My capsule wardrobe colours stick to a simple palette – neutrals and accents of navy, but this is purely my style and I find that this is just enough to add that that necessary pop or finishing touch to change up an outfit.
So, there you have it, that is my style!
What is yours?
